Leo Babauta Blogging Entrepreneur

January 17, 2009 By Sherry Tingley

leo_babautaLeo Babauta, author of ZenHabits, a Technorati Top 50 blog with an Alexa rank of 65,645, may not think of himself as an entrepreneur however he is making a living from blogging and that makes him the ultimate blogging entrepreneur.

Background history

Leo Babauta, a native of Guam, earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English.  He put his writing skills to work and eventually became a successful speech-writer for the governor of Guam.  His unquestionably remarkable talent and writing style has contributed to his current success in the blogosphere.

His life however was not always the peaceful, happy life he is now living. According to an article in Psychology Today, February 2009, he used to struggle with many personal problems.  His addiction to nicotine was on his list of challenges.  His Internet research on changing bad habits and dedication to success helped him to not only conquer that deadly habit, but to share with millions of people how they too can change their lives.

Two years ago Leo Babauta was $30,000 in debt, had maxed out his credit cards and personal loans and was struggling from paycheck to paycheck. He even appears on CNN.com with an article about how he cut up his credit cards and worked on getting himself out of debt.

What contributes to his success?

Today, Leo Babauta runs a blog, ZenHabits,  which has 85,500 readers. In his blog, he writes about achieving goals, productivity, being organized, motivation, eliminating debt, saving, exercising, eating healthy, simplifying, living frugally, parenting and happiness. He achieved this success by being engaging, honest and laying his heart bare for the world to pick apart.

By listening to my readers, and having a conversation with them, I was able to figure out what they really wanted, what kinds of posts would be most interesting and useful to them, and to give Zen Habits a character that was not just mine but theirs as well.

What is the key to happiness?

Achieving goals is the key to happiness. Reach them by daily practice of good habits. True happiness can be found when you clarify what is important to you and spend your time doing only those things. Simplifying life reduces stress and focuses on that which you hold dear.

How does Leo Babauta help others become  better bloggers?

At Writetodone.com , another one of his blogs, he helps people learn how to develop their own unique writing style.

By reading many different writers, and really engaging in their ideas, you enhance your critical thinking skills as well as your imaginative firepower, both of which enable you to develop a richer personality, which is what you really want to shine through in your writing anyway.

100 Popular Questions Asked on The Internet

January 15, 2009 By Sherry Tingley

What are keywords?

On the internet keywords are basically what words the user types into the search engines to find what they are looking for. Keywords can be fun to research. This data is relevant to bloggers because it helps them know what to write about and what people are interested in.

Where do I find keyword tools?

There are a lot of tools on the internet that research the number of times keywords are searched for. One of those keyword tools is provided by a company called Wordtracker. Wordtracker has recently come out with a beta version keyword tool that will tell you what questions people are asking based on the keywords you enter. This keyword tool is very handy and a lot of bloggers will enjoy using it.

How many results for keyword searches are considered popular?

When you begin your keyword research, you’ll see that many questions get less than 100 searches. To be included in this list of 100 popular internet questions, I chose the majority of questions that had been asked over 400 times.

What keywords are people using in the questions they ask?

Being a curious person, I spent some time this morning researching keywords used in questions on a variety of different topics and chose to list 100 of the top ranked questions that people are asking. The number that you see represents the number of times that question was asked over the past 140 days.  You may be able to use these statistics to write your own blogging posts.  Spend some time using this keyword tool to help you with ideas of topics to write about.

Using popular keywords in your writing will help you attract readers to your blog.  Be sure to use keywords that are meaningful to your readers and that provide answers to their questions.

What keyword tools do you use and why do you like them?

Local Ad Link Program

Local Ad Link Program

Are you a website owner or a brick and mortar business owner?  Are you tired of wasting money on advertising that doesn’t work?

Then you will be interested in Local Ad Link’s  inventive and powerful internet advertising system.

The Local Ad Link Program company was founded by the owners of BoomJ, a publicly traded internet company. There is a lot of power behind this company.  They have completely and effectively made internet advertising for local businesses affordable.

This internet advertising model is brilliant because it makes it very simple for business owners, not just website owners, to increase their revenues through geo targeted advertising on the internet.

What really counts when you spend your internet advertising dollars (whether on the internet or anywhere else)  is whether you actually see more sales as a result.  Well the video below will take you step by step through the entire Local Ad Link Program system and you can judge for yourself whether you think it could be useful to you.

An added bonus about this advertising system is that people can show this program to others and get a nice little payment for lining up accounts. So not only does it provide a good way for established local businesses (with or without websites) or internet businesses to build brand awareness and increase their customer base, it allows you to have a business providing this advertising for them. You can sign up to be a business representative for free. There is also a paid sign up if you want to take full advantage of the business model, but if you are tight on money as many folks are, the free model will allow you to earn money as well.

All the materials are online so you can learn at your own pace or you can be mentored. Either way, you are in a win win situation.

Imagine being able to offer affordable internet advertising to local or internet businesses that will appear on websites with the biggest brand names on the internet:  www.Yahoo.com, www.Linkedin.com, www.Flickr.com, www.YouTube.com, www.Google.com, www.Twitter.com, www.Diggcom, www.Fandango.com, www.isupply.com, www.tartot.com, www.Photo.net, www.beb.com, the Wall Street Journal, CNN.com, Motor Trend, Napster, about.com, redbook.com, friendster.com yogajournal.com, and the list goes on.

Have fun and get paid with the hottest local businesses in your area!

“The cost for small businesses to get top search engine placements on their own is prohibitive – both in hard costs and man-hours lost. As recognized experts in our field, we are able to get our customers internet search engine exposure that would be extremely difficult – and very time-consuming – for them to achieve on their own. No doubt local companies want to connect with local customers in an affordable way. This is the next way for companies to lure customers!”

“I think the key to success is to be honest, sincere and have a real desire to help people. After you begin to do that your business just grows. One person tells another, and you build your business. We owe it to people to share the LocalAdLink opportunity with them.  Nanette G.

“This ad link business model is harnessing how local companies use their advertising dollars for local growth on the net. This is smart for companies and consumers!”

What are you waiting for?

Go to Local Ad Link now, sign up at least to be a free account executive and see if this won’t help you grow your own business or help others with incredible revenues. It’s time we bust this economic depression with the Local Ad Link Program.

Affiliate Programs For The Newbie Marketer

January 12, 2009 By Sherry Tingley

Every day of every year thousands of people flock to the internet to try to earn an income or even seek their fortune.

Not all are lucky enough to succeed – at least not without some guidance along the way.

For the newbie, affiliate marketing programs are a great way to create income for you even without a website. I can say this because of the great alternatives offered by free blogging platforms and free webpage creation sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, etc.

Affiliate marketing programs are where a company offers to pay you a set amount for either a click through from your website, visitors signing up or a commission for a purchase of a product made by someone as a result of being referred from you.

The more people you get to your affiliate page or you send to them through your own site or blog, the greater your chance will be at making a sale and creating an online income.

Even if visitors don’t make a purchase immediately, almost all programs offer cookie duration, normally consisting of 30 – 90 days. What this means, is that as long as the visitors have the cookie in their computers cache, you’ll still receive a profit from the sale.

Certainly the a big portion of your time in maintaining your site will be searching for and implementing various affiliate products. Even though there’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing, you have to take the time to search for the best programs.

If your going to be strictly an affiliate marketer you don’t have to be to concerned with developing a website where you will need to add content in order to get it ranked in the search engines or create a high PR rating for it.

Your main tasks are finding the products and sending visitors to review it.

Affiliate tracking can also be a problem. Once you have applied to become an affiliate for a company, they’ll usually supply you with a personalized link that will contain a code that identifies you as the seller.

Before you start to bring visitors to your affiliate page you may want to consider cloaking the link in order to make it look better and to keep others from stealing your commissions.

It’s very important that you implement this code into your correctly, or you may be sending visitors to the company without receiving a profit on a sale.

Even though most merchants will assume some level of risk with fraud, there is still a level of risk involved. Once you know what you’re doing with affiliate marketing, you’ll be on top well before you know it.

Prayer List For Patrick Swayze

January 10, 2009 By Sherry Tingley

Patrick Swayze, accomplished movie actor, 56, is suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  He was hospitalized on Friday, January 9, 2008 for observation. Patrick Swayze… A person to admire… A cowboy at heart… A dancer and actor extrodinare.

Although being terminally ill, Patrick Swayze has shown incredible courage and determination to live his life with uncommon valor.

His recent interview with Barbara Walters, that can be seen on youtube.com, allows viewers to see some of the incredible accomplishments he has recently made, despite his tragic medical diagnosis.

Millions of people lose the battle to cancer every year and also show incredible courage in their lives. Blessings go out to all who are suffering from this disease and who have lost loved ones to cancer.

Personally, I’ll always remember the stunning performance he gave in the movie, “Ghost.”  Such an incredible movie with a memorable message!
