All About The American Pit Bulldog

First registered in the year 1970 as the American Pit Bulldog, the American Bulldog is an athletic and powerful dog. It was later named as the American Bulldog after its registration. Its endurance is amazing and it is both bold and fearless but is never overly aggressive. The American Bulldog is a short-haired dog that is a stocky and very strong. They come in many colors and that includes solid white, white with patches, black and white, fawn and white, and other combinations. American Bulldogs belong to the mastiff group. The American Bulldog breed are originally work dogs. They guarded the land and participated in catching and driving of cattle. Male American Bulldogs reach up to 125 pounds with a length of 27 inches while female ones can weigh up to 100 pounds with a length of 25 inches. What is more amazing is, they can live up to sixteen years and can have litters of 11 puppies on average.
American bulldogs work very well with other breeds. They generally get along with other dogs especially when they grow up with them. Apart from that, they get along very well with children as well. Because of their massiveness however, they are best for older children and not babies or infants. American Bulldogs do not bite and an attack against children or anyone is not in its history but because of their built, they could accidentally sit on a baby or role over one. However, American Bulldog enthusiasts have trained their bulldogs to understand that adults and infants are different making the bulldogs extra gentle when around smaller kids.
The loyalty of the American Bulldog is as immense as its weight. Its natural guarding instincts however can be aggressive on occasion towards people it doesn't know making it important to properly socialize it with other people while it is young. These dogs learn fast and learning new tricks is not difficult for them because they are an intelligent breed.
