Blogging, Your Free Online Marketing Method

January 5, 2009 By Sherry Tingley

It’s been many, many years since blogging first started.

It was thought to be nothing more than another one of those passing internet fads that wouldn’t last out the year.

It ended up being considered as one of the most addicting internet “fads” that spawned a whole lot of new internet marketing products. It has become way more than just an outlet for peoples emotions where they can blurt out whatever bugs them or whatever makes them feel elated. Savvy marketers have discovered that blogging is one of the best Internet marketing methods that won’t cost you a cent.

What exactly is blogging? Blog is the widely used term that refers to web log. Basically, a blog is an online journal. A blog could be set up to no cost at all, and can be used for just for the fun of it or for business reasons.

Blogging for your Internet business is one surefire way to boost the visibility of your products and services.

Here are just a few ways to boost your internet advertising via blogging:

1. Keeps your clients or customers abreast of changes to your website.

2. Your new products and affiliate websites could also be announced through your blog.

3. Keep track of your business objectives and plans through open writing. Your blog content can be easily stored through archives. What could be better than searchable information that could be easily accessed by anyone browsing the web.

4. Air your opinions, advice or reviews on specific services or products that are related to your business. Publishing is a very easy process with blogging.

5. Include links that will fetch back links and subsequently improve your ranking on search engines. This could be better executed through putting well-written articles in your website. Affiliate links could also be included in your blog to earn more extra income.

6. Collect response through the ability of blogs to fetch comments from your blog readers. You can learn and improve your products and services through with the feedback from your readers.

7. Connect easily with other bloggers. When other bloggers notice that you have something good in your blog, they will put you in their favorite lists that will automatically link you to their blogs.

So, how do you set up a blog?

One option would be to load a blogging software on your website, set it up and customize it to your needs. A second option, and one that is used by millions of bloggers is to signup with one of the blog hosting service such as LiveJournal, Blogger or WordPress.

Those hosts will provide you with easy instructions on how to put up your blog and are used by blogging worldwide.

How to Maintain Good Credit

November 7, 2008 By Sherry Tingley

Good credit is sometimes difficult to achieve. Even when it is achieved often times it’s hard to keep your credit score in a decent range. One of the main credit factors that determines your credit rating is whether you pay your credit card bills on time or whether you frequently forget to send out that payment.

People have so many reasons for not paying their bills on time.  Some of them are due to plain neglect and some are due to loss of a job or inability to work because of illness. Regardless of the reason, the credit card companies can report you to the credit bureau if you are over 30 days late on your payments.  If you are just a few weeks late, they can make your life miserable by fining you huge fees.

When you find that you have gotten behind on your payments and your late fees are accumulating, you can always call your credit card company and ask for them to work with you on perhaps lowering your fee or eliminating it altogether depending on your reason for missing the payment. You’d be surprised how many fees can be eliminated by doing this.
If you are over 30 days late on your payment, you will have to find out whether you have been reported to the credit bureaus.  If they have reported you, then this is where your credit score will start to go down. It will take a while before that negative ding will go away.  The more times you are reported to the credit bureau, the lower your credit score will go.

You can contact the credit bureaus by calling these numbers:

  • Equifax (800-685-1111)
  • Experian (888-397-3742)
  • Trans Union (800-888-4213)

Maintaining good credit will help you in your efforts to attain financial security. Financial security is defined as the comfortable feeling that your finanical resources will be adequate to fulfill any needs you have as well as most of your wants.  Doesn’t everyone deserve that?

Maintain good credit by paying your bills on time and keeping track of what is going on with your credit report before any big problems arise.

Business Community Review

November 2, 2008 By Sherry Tingley

internet advertisingInternet Advertising

Scott Colley has a new website at GoodVibeBiz, that accentuates the positive aspects of business.  This website is a place where people can post a review of any business they choose. It is designed to help spread the good word about new internet businesses.

If you have a company that you would like to review, just go to his site and fill out a form where you can let people know what you think.  This benefits the business community and webmasters who would like free internet advertising. Word of mouth advertising is fantastic.

Clients submit business reviews, ask their customers to give their testimonials and everybody benefits. It’s a win, win situation.  More traffic for your website and more qualified prospects for your business.

Google likes the GoodVib Biz

GoodVib Biz has been ranked number one by Google site for search term ‘business review community.’ It is starting to get a lot of attention from prominent businesses and will continue to grow.

Internet Advertising

According to Scott Colley, Advertising in today’s market is like herding 50 cats in a field. You’re never sure what works best. This site gets people what they need in advertising –  ‘page one Google search results’ and it’s FREE, so the price is right!

Benefits of GoodVib Biz

Scott Colley says, When you look for the good, you tend to find it.  I really do try to live my life finding the good in people and events, so it’s been a natural extension to every aspect of my business.

Too many negative sites dominate our eyeballs on the Internet every day. Some of my clients get ‘jammed’ by one bad review from that one ‘never happy’ customer.  This site’s focus is getting folks to speak up about the good they encounter in businesses daily.

Don’t waste any time. Get over to GoodVib Biz and start listing your Internet businesses now!

Keyword Case Study for WordPress

November 1, 2008 By Sherry Tingley

Keyword strategies are so important to the success of your website business that they just cannot be overlooked. Although word of mouth adverstising is golden and frankly much easier than doing keyword research, using a good keyword strategy is mandatory. This article will go over some keyword strategy insights gained from a case study done over a four month time frame.

My previous article on keyword strategies for WordPress covered blogging tips and the question of where exactly in your posts do you want to see your keywords. While that strategy is the number one strategy you should use, you also should consider what happens to your website as a whole when you start adding good content on a regular basis.

The excel chart below (please click on it to enlarge it and read it well) explains an interesting thing that happened to www.coolchecks.net as a result of posting content to the blog a regular basis.

Many hosting companies provide website owners with a way to measure their traffic through a program called the Cpanel. Cpanel lets the webmaster control a lot of things on a website, but the thing I like best is the daily reports it can give you about your website traffic.

For my four-month case study, using the Cpanel web stats, I charted the results of the traffic I received from the keyword phrase cheap checks. This phrase is important to the site because the site sells bank checks.

When I charted the results I could see a dramatic increase in hits during the month of October, for the keyword phrase cheap checks. I had only changed a few words on the home page of this site to try to boost the rankings for cheap checks” and I posted to the web blog on a regular basis.

My monthly hits to the site with that keyword increased by 1273! So how did that translate into real progress financially? There was an increase in revenue from the site of $601.38.

Examining the results from the chart above brought me to wonder about another statistic that I could easily pull from the Cpanel. I wanted to know how many search phrases were used during each month.

The chart below will show you the total number of keyword phrases used to bring people to my site over a four-month period of time.

keyword strategies

You will notice a steady increase in keyword phrases. During October, there were 1299 keyword phrases people used to get to get to my site, while in July there were only 685. It appears that the number of keyword phrases almost doubled over four months.

There are several blogging tips you can learn from this keyword case study.

  • Adding content on a regular basis can dramatically improve website traffic.
  • The increase in traffic improves your keyword search results so you are ranked higher for the keyword you optimized for.
  • More traffic means more revenue.
  • Cpanel statistics are awesome and should be watched carefully.
  • One keyword phrase that you rank well for can affect the other keyword phrases and bootstrap them to higher search result positions.

When you are developing your website business, don’t overlook the importance of a good keyword strategy and the power that it has to improve your financial condition.

Top Twenty New Useful Website Applications

October 24, 2008 By Sherry Tingley

An interesting array of new, useful websites have appeared on the Internet. All these websites are designed to make your life easier in some regard.

The websites listed below are displayed according to their Alexa ranking, which is a measurement of how popular sites are and how much traffic they get. Google and Yahoo of course battle for the number one position worldwide, so that should give you some idea that the closer the website is to the number one position, the more popular they are. They are also listed by the topic they cover.

Alexa Rank Useful Websites Topic
161 www.multiply.com Media Storage

It’s worth taking a look at some of these to see how they will help you in your daily life. One favorite is the www.opentable.com where you can book dining reservations. Their database comes complete with photos of the inside of the restaurant and price ranges for dinner.

The next time you are waiting for a bus to arrive, you may be lucky enough to discover your bus system is being tracked by a GPS system. Although this site, www.nextbus.com does not have all the states in the U.S. covered, it is a great idea and one I hope will blossom into all parts of the world. Seems that one cold morning while waiting for a bus, I developed this sytem in my mind. Life is becoming easier with new technology!

I mentioned the top twenty useful websites and only listed 19…what should number 20 be?
