Golden Retrievers are fun-loving animals who have so much energy that they can run around for more than an hour without rest. Most of them just take about 5 minutes and they are revved up again. These medium-large sized dogs have broad skulls and straight muzzles. Most golden retrievers either have a black nose or a brownish black one.

They are lovable, well-mannered and rather charming dogs. They are also intelligent and easy to train. Having them around children is not a problem either because they are very patient and very gentle, making them the perfect dog for growing families. Golden Retrievers are very much devoted to their masters but they are not dependent. They are self assured and very obedient if given the right training.

However, if you do not know how to discipline them, they could wreak havoc in your home and destroy everything in their path. This is of course without them realizing it because they are heavily built and can run down a coffee table with just a swish of their tails. These dogs need a lot of exercise which means you would need to take them for a long walk or jog. Most of the time, your dog will follow the leader and that means he or she will follow you. After your walk, you can let your dog retrieve balls or Frisbees.

Walt Disney's Air Bud is also a sensational golden retriever film about a real-life hoop hound. Buddy, the name of the main character is a basketball-loving, slam dunking-dog. The second Air Bud film is yet another heartwarming story but this time, Buddy fathers 4 cute pups. The story is not concentrated on basketball anymore though but is focused on soccer hence the title of the movie: Bud World Pup.
