All About Cocker Spaniels

Originally bred as gun dogs, Cocker Spaniels make great household pets. There are two main types, the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel. Meanwhile, its cousin, the English Cocker Spaniel has a closer resemblance to the form of the Field Spaniel as well as the Springer Spaniel. The English Cocker Spaniel is an active and good-natured dog, having three of its kind: the field, the working and the show cockers. The name "merry cocker" has been given to this breed to express its happy personality and constantly wagging tail. They can be domineering and assertive but still very loyal to their companions.

The English Cocker Spaniel is quite a stubborn dog; however, it can be trained easily and can be a good family pet.
