Order dog checks with Bull Mastifs on them. Bullmastifs are very big and powerful dogs but they are not to be afraid of because they are very loving creatures who will steal your heart away. They require a lot of attention and a lot of time though. However, these dogs are not for everyone.
Bullmastifs are muscular dogs who weigh up to 130 pounds or more. They are very confident dogs who are usually strong-willed bordering to stubborn. They will question you whether who is in charge and will challenge your authority, in a cute way of course.
These dogs thrive on affection and are a bit on the sensitive side as well. They are faithful, loyal and intelligent. Apart from that, Bullmastifs are very expressive of their emotions and are so much fun to be with. They, however, need to have dog training so that they will obey you. Since they are rather stubborn, if not taken care of the right way, they will only disobey you but of course they will love you nonetheless.
When Bullmastifs love, they will literally give their lives for your sake and will be the "bestest" friend you can ever have. Now if "massive" loving is what you want, then the bullmastiff is the best pet for you.
More on the Bullmastiff
The bullmastiff is a cross between the Old English Bulldog and the English Mastiff. The breed was developed for the main purpose of finding and immobilizing poachers. Today however the bullmastiff is one of the most popular family pets.
Males grow as tall as 69 cm while females are only 3 cm smaller. They come in three different colors, red, brindle and fawn. These 3 are the standard colors of the bullmastiff according to the AKC.
Bullmastifs that are fawn, range from reddish brown to a very light brown while the red ones can either be dark rich red or light red fawn. Bullmastifs with brindles however have a striped overlay of the first two types of colors.
Temperament
Bullmastifs are confident dogs yet a bit docile. they are courageous dogs and are intensely attached to loved ones. They get along well with other dogs but beware of the males because they generally do not get along with other male dogs. If you have kids, have them introduced to your children while the dogs and the kids are young. Proper training is needed for the dog to get along well with your kids. Be very careful though because, as big as they are, they might knock your kids down by accident.
Due to the bullmastiff's history, it is naturally a very independent dog. As said earlier, he will make decisions on his own but with good and proper training, he will be trained to look for his boss to ask for permission before he does what he thinks he should do. Obedience training and early socialization with all family members is a good start.
For those a bit afraid because of how Bullmastifs look, do not worry, Bullmastifs are not aggressive dogs and will not hurt anyone in your family.
